Q:
I have an early trunk with chipped up paint. The paint is very hard to remove and stripper won't touch it. How can I strip this piece?

A:What you have on your trunk is early buttermilk paint. Once you remove it, you decrease the value of your trunk. If you really must remove this type of paint, you can remove it with ammonia. Today's strippers are not formulated to remove this type of paint. Olde Fashioned Milk Paints produces very authentic colors using the original formular. It is excellant for restoration. You may want to look into this instead.
